Next calculation
Profit on a product page and cash in the bank are different clocks. You often pay for stock and ads before the sales money arrives. This planner runs one set of monthly figures forward and shows the balance at the end of each month.
It assumes every month matches the numbers you type. That is deliberate. If the simple version already goes negative, a more detailed spreadsheet will not rescue it.
What to put in each line
Revenue should be money you expect to collect, not orders you have not been paid for. Stock and delivery is what you will actually pay suppliers that month. Marketing is the spend, not the budget you hope to recover. Fixed costs include the tools, rent, and any pay you take out.
The opening balance is the cash you can spend, not invoices customers still owe you.
The first negative month
If a month ends below zero, that is the deadline. You need more collected revenue, a smaller stock order, lower ads, or lower fixed costs before then. Waiting until the account is empty removes all four options.
Frequently asked questions
Is a positive balance the same as profit?
No. The balance can rise because you have not yet paid for stock you will need, or fall because you bought stock you will sell later. Read it next to the batch planner, not instead of it.
How far ahead should I look?
Six months is enough to see a slow leak. Twenty-four is the limit here. Past that, the assumption that every month is identical stops being useful.
Where do taxes go?
Put a monthly set-aside in fixed costs if you want the projection to survive a tax bill. Leaving tax out makes the ending balance look safer than the cash you can spend.
Can the months have different sales?
This version keeps them steady so the leak is obvious. For a seasonal month, run the planner twice: once with the quiet revenue and once with the busy revenue.
